Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and I had every intention of posting a blog about the people and things I love. I had also planned a day full of little girls’ crafts for their daddy, getting our nails done, and Aaron had dinner planned at my favorite restaurant. My morning started out with Addy and I opening our cards in my bed. I laughed hysterically that my husband picked out a card containing the word “margarita” in his 3 year old daughter’s Valentine’s card. What on earth?! At least he crossed it out and wrote “hello kitty stickers” instead. Still funny. But that was the extent of my happy morning. I soon got a call that had me rushing around trying to get out of town to see my Grandaddy. He had been in the hospital a few days, and we thought he was getting better, but his 88 year old body had enough. It’s still a little hard for me to believe. I kinda expected him to outlive us all!! Driving home last night I was trying to remember all the fun things he did for me and my sister. He always spotted Santa’s reindeer flying through the sky on Christmas eve. He always made sure we had PLENTY to eat! He took us to work with him. Taught us songs about donkeys, chickens, and yodeling. Let me sit in his lap and “drive” the truck. Told the craziest stories about his past. Provided us with many laughs on a trip to Las Vegas. I love my Grandaddy. I wish Addy and Ayla were old enough now to remember him later. I know I will forever tell them my memories and sing those songs he taught me when I was a little girl. I truly am thankful.

(New Year’s Day 2011)
I’m a little behind on everything since we just got back from a week long family ski trip (pictures to come soon). I thought it was important to stop playing catch up and take the time to remember my Grandaddy. I also think it’s important to mention Ginny Corbett’s Renew Workshop. She’s had a contest going on this past week, I’ve had no internet connection, and couldn’t enter until now. It’s the last day to enter, and I hope I’m not too late because I would so love to attend this Renew Workshop. Check out the details here…. http://ginnycorbettphotography.com/blog/?p=2715

Ginny Corbett - I hope I get to you!
