Arkansas

I promise I’m alive, even though my blog would tell you otherwise! I’ve been spending much of my time this summer just enjoying the moments instead of sitting behind my computer blogging about them. I have lots of pictures and stories waiting to be blogged, but they will have to wait at least one more day! And just to prove I haven’t been laying on the couch all summer, here’s a little sneak of our trip to Arkansas…

My Birthday Week!!

I’m totally neglecting the blog! Quite honestly, everything is getting a little neglected since school let out! I have a feeling this will be my hardest summer yet! It’s only been a few weeks and I can already feel Addy’s anticipation to get out of the house and do something! Doesn’t she realize it’s 1oo degrees outside and mama doesn’t want to do anything but lay under the fan?! If anyone has some amazing suggestions for cheap entertainment this summer, I’d love to hear them!!

In other news, my birthday is on Monday and I have declared this week as my birthday week! Tomorrow we leave for Austin, drop off the kiddos, and head out for our annual camping trip on the river. Then on Monday I’ll be spending the day with my Mama and eating at my most favorite restaurant, Brio! Mmmmm… I’ve been thinking about their Chicken Caesar Salad and Tiramisu for at least a few weeks now! Maybe I’ll bring my camera so I can share some birthday pictures… but I doubt it. Cell phone cameras and Instagram just make it too easy for this lazy girl!!

And just to prove that I am still doing photo sessions, here’s a quick peek of my latest engagement. Love them!

My little bunny

This past week has been beyond crazy. Dance pictures, classes, rehearsal, recital! Lots of family and friends visiting. And to top it off, I volunteered to be the class mom for the recital. I wonder what was in my drink the day I thought that was a good idea?! Kidding… kinda! As crazy as that day was, I know Addy loves me even more for doing special things for her. I’m pretty sure I will always volunteer to be a class mom, chauffeur, or whatever else it is my girls’ need from me. I love them more than anything and wouldn’t trade my life with anyone!

And can I just say… I have some pretty amazing friends. I wish I got a picture of EVERYONE that came to Addy’s special day. Half of them had to leave right after the recital, and I don’t know where I was for pictures with the rest of the family! But you all are very special and I’m so blessed! Thank you for loving my little bunny as much as I do!

… and for spoiling her with gifts! My girls are pretty lucky too. They have one amazing Grammy!

And these little toots… Can you tell they are the children of a photographer? They love to look right past my camera. I think it’s their way of telling me “We are done mom!”

One more thing I’m absolutely thankful for…. my 16 month old is FINALLY walking!

Do what makes you happy | Mindless Monday

It’s been awhile since my last Mindless Monday post…. Prepare yourself for a random post about shoes!

I love ballet flats. It’s pretty much the only type of shoe I wear since having two kids. I think my days of stilettos, or any type of high heel, are long gone. When I’m holding two kids, one on each hip, a diaper bag filled with snacks and diapers, juggling the keys and my iphone… flats just seem practical. About a year ago, when I spotted a yellow pair of snakeskin Gianni Bini ballet flats, I fell in love. My husband hated them, and so did my mom. But I knew I loved them, ignored their opinions, and bought them anyway. Who cares if a couple people didn’t like my shoes? If I loved them, wasn’t that all that mattered? So I did what made me happy, and I seriously wear those shoes with almost every outfit. They go with everything. And if you see me out and my yellow shoes don’t match my outfit, don’t you dare tell me!

So do what makes you happy – kind of a big statement to draw from a pair of shoes. But as dumb as it sounds, my yellow shoes make me happy. They make this worn out mother of two feel a little bit stylish, and I would have missed out if I had just done what everyone else told me to do.

If it makes me happy, does it matter what other people think?

Paula - I love them!

TOMS are here!!

Today, Mr. Mailman is my bff. He delivered 4 boxes full of Tiny TOMS!! We have been waiting forever to get these! To say I’m excited is an understatement.

The bad news is we are leaving for Austin for the weekend. That means Tiny TOMS won’t be available in the boutique until Tuesday. But I definitely expect to see all you TOMS lovers in our store when we open on Tuesday! Have an amazing and safe Memorial Day weekend!
