To say my girls are cute is a complete understatement. I know, everyone says that! But God knew what he was doing when he put these two little girls in my life. He knew they needed to be over the top adorable so this mama would look past some of the things they do! Addy, in typical 4 year old style, can get a little bossy attitude and has a hard time listening most days. But oh my goodness, she can make me laugh in two seconds. Ayla is 2 but she thinks she’s big stuff, just like her sister. Do you know how hard it is to discipline a 2 year old that acts like a 4 year old? Pretty difficult. Honestly, most of the time I laugh at her when I shouldn’t. She is one tough cookie and will definitely let you know when she’s not happy with you.

I’m not a perfect mom, and I try my hardest to do the best for my girls… but sometimes you just have to laugh instead of get mad. It happens a lot in this house. I love my girls and am so grateful God has chosen me to be their mama.

These pictures were taken last weekend. I used my girls to test out my Mothers’ Day Mini session setup. Addy was out of control goofy that day and Ayla was actually sick… I didn’t know how sick until after my mini sessions were over… poor baby! It was absolute chaos and I gave up after about 3 minutes. I did not get the picture I really wanted – just me and my girls – but I was able to capture my girls just as they are. These pictures make me smile!

 

Other people would totally write off this next image because it’s really not a good picture. Ayla giving me her “I’m not happy” eyes. Addy cheesin as usual. But I think it’s hilarious! It’s the ONLY picture I got of them both looking at the camera that day!

 

I love how this series plays out….

 

Aaron and Addy were trying their hardest to get Ayla to cooperate with me! She just wasn’t having it!

We were seriously up and out the door, ready to shoot by 7am. I must admit, it was pretty nice to have so much accomplished by 10am. Most of the morning I walked around and watched other people shoot. It’s so interesting to see other photographers interact with people and set up their shots. If it were up to me, I’d tag along with other photographers more often! So while everyone else was busy posing and shooting, I was playing with my camera. I don’t get much time to do that. Usually when I have my camera out, it’s for a purpose… a shoot, a school event, or whatever else. You’d think being a mom of two precious baby girls I’d have eager and willing participants most of the time. I wish! My kids are probably the worst at getting their picture taken. The time at this workshop was so amazing for me. I played with lighting, angles, lenses, and really tried to challenge myself to do something different. And we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful backdrop that day! Austin had the most ridiculous wildflowers this year. It puts my bluebonnet patch to shame! Fields of yellow flowers up to your waist… gorgeous.

I’ve been following Michele since I started photography and have been a part of her forum, PT4P, for about 3 years. To be able to go into her home, watch her work, and learn from her was so amazing. Seriously, who lets a bunch of strangers take over their house and studio for 3 days?! Michele does. And that’s why she’s awesome. For all my photographer friends, if Michele ever decides to offer this workshop again, you should definitely try to go!

After a half day of getting to know each other, talking, and cramming in as much information as we could… we started the next morning with some in home sessions. Here’s a few of my favorites that I took that day.
